How Are Liquid Gel Extensions Applied?

Gel Extension Nail Application Gel Nails

Gel extensions are a popular and long-lasting alternative to traditional acrylic nails. They offer a natural look and feel, and are less damaging to the natural nails. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply gel extensions.

Step 1: Prep the nails. The first step in applying gel extensions is to prep the nails. Push back the cuticles and trim any dead skin. Use a nail buffer to smooth the surface of the nails. It is essential that the nails are clean and dry before application.

Step 2: Find the right size. Next, take each finger and find the correct size tip that fits. All the nails in the kit have numbers to compare. Ensure that the full cover nail tip fits from side wall to side wall. This will aid in a longer adhesion, because the nail is not likely to pop off from being too small.

Step 3: Prep the artificial nail tip. To prepare the artificial nail tip, file the inside of the nail tips or apply a layer of acetone to ensure it is a clean surface for application. Giving it some grit will also help with adhesion.

Step 4: Apply bonder liquid to natural nails. Bonder is a dehydrator and ensures that natural nails are as dry as possible with no oils or debris.

Step 5: Apply primer liquid to natural nails. Primer makes the nails sticky so that it is easier for the gel to attach.

Step 6: Apply a thin layer of extend gel to the natural nails. This layer will create a base for the extension.

Step 7: Cure the nails. Put your hand in the UV/LED lamp for 60 seconds to cure the extend gel layer.

Step 8: Apply gel to the tips. Ensure the client’s hand is straight. Apply the gel tip to the natural nail, and press down firmly (ensuring there are no air bubbles). As one hand is holding the tip, take your other hand holding a handheld LED light and shine it directly on the nail for 30 seconds (flash cure). Then place your hand inside the UV/LED lamp for 60 seconds to cure the gel.

Step 9: Repeat on all fingers. Repeat the process on all fingers.

Step 10: Finish. Once you have applied the gel extensions to all fingers, you are done! You can file the tips to your desired length and shape, and finish with a topcoat for a polished look.

In conclusion, applying gel extensions is a simple process that requires attention to detail and precision. With the right tools and technique, you can create beautiful, long-lasting extensions that are perfect for any occasion.
